Cisco Certified Network Professional - CCNP

Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Routing and Switching certification validates the ability to plan, implement, verify and troubleshoot local and wide-area enterprise networks and work collaboratively with specialists on advanced security, voice, wireless and video solutions. The CCNP Routing and Switching certification is appropriate for those with at least one year of networking experience who are ready to advance their skills and work independently on complex network solutions.

Those who achieve CCNP Routing and Switching have demonstrated the skills required in enterprise roles such as network engineer, support engineer, systems engineer or network technician. The routing and switching protocol knowledge from this certification will provide a lasting foundation as these skills are equally relevant in the physical networks of today and the virtualized network functions of tomorrow.

Programme Overview

The Cisco CCNP curriculum provides a comprehensive overview of enterprise-level networking concepts, including advanced routing, switching, and troubleshooting. Students gain hands-on practical experience while developing valuable career skills

The curriculum includes the following features:

  • Courses provide an in-depth, theoretical overview of advanced routing and switching concepts, and teach students how to troubleshoot complex enterprise networks.
  • Curriculum builds on the Cisco CCNA courses with more complex network configurations and troubleshooting.
  • Courses help students prepare for the globally recognized Cisco CCNP certification and professional career opportunities.
  • Hands-on labs and case studies allow students to apply what they learn and develop critical thinking and complex problem solving skills.

Course Descriptions

CCNP equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to plan, implement, secure, maintain, and troubleshoot converged enterprise networks. The curriculum consists of three courses that employ industry-relevant instructional approaches to help students prepare for professional career opportunities: CCNP SWITCH, CCNP ROUTE and CCNP TSHOOT

The CCNP Recommended Curriculum consists of the following three courses and associated e-Learning:

ROUTE v1.0 - Implementing Cisco IP Routing is a 40 hour instructor-led course and 7.5 hours of related e-learning designed for network engineers with at least one year of professional work experience, who are ready to advance their skills and work independently on complex network solutions. Students will learn to plan, configure and verify the implementation of complex enterprise LAN and WAN routing solutions using a range of routing protocols. Course also covers configuration of secure routing solutions to support branch offices and mobile workers.

SWITCH v1.0 - Implementing Cisco IP Switched Networks is a 40 hour instructor-led course designed for network engineers with at least one year of professional work experience, who are ready to advance their skills and work independently on complex network solutions. Students will learn to plan, configure and verify the implementation of complex enterprise switching solutions using Cisco's Campus Enterprise Architecture. Course also covers secure integration of VLANs, WLANs, voice and video into campus networks. (There is no e-learning associated with the SWITCH course.)

TSHOOT v1.0 - Troubleshooting and Maintaining Cisco IP Networks is a 40 hour instructor-led course and 9.5 hours of related e-learning designed for network engineers with at least one year of professional work experience, who are ready to advance their skills and work independently on complex network solutions. Students will learn to (1) plan and perform regular maintenance on complex enterprise routed and switched networks and (2) use technology-based practices and a systematic ITIL-compliant approach to perform network troubleshooting. Extensive labs provide for hands-on learning and reinforce troubleshooting skills.
